AAA

Amelia Approved Airbnbs

Finding a place to stay shouldn’t be work.

These are AAA (Amelia Approved Airbnb) stays in Harrisonburg and the greater Shenandoah Valley, making it easier to find a boutique vacation. These Airbnbs have been culled for your ease based on aesthetics, amenities, location, and individuality. Because your vacation shouldn’t start with drudgery. This is 100 percent, totally, completely subjective.

Harrisonburg-ish

“This newly renovated, historic home sits just four blocks from downtown Harrisonburg, the outdoor adventure capital of the Shenandoah Valley.” Whether you’re traveling for our mountain scenery, downtown district, or local university events, this fully-equipped home is the perfect base.

“The historically renovated guest suite is a private retreat. Guests rave: the shower has spa-like energy and the bed is comfortable!” - The Perch

Two different stays, with an emphasis on design and rest. Located in Mt. Crawford and Downtown Harrisonburg.

“This Scandinavian-inspired cabin provides a serene retreat nestled in the trees, ideal for couples and solo getaways.” Did I mention they have a sauna? This is a perfect getaway for a local and the city dweller. Located in Shenandoah, it’s far enough away to be peaceful but close enough to hit up some good hiking or food, should you want to.

“This home borders the George Washington National Forest just 20 minutes west of Harrisonburg, VA and 20 minutes east of the WV state line. The cabin offers total privacy in the woods and includes easy access to numerous mountain biking trails, hiking trails, & trout fishing locations. An outdoor enthusiast's ideal scenario.”

This is an ideal location for anyone wanting to feel one with nature but also close to Harrisonburg. Wonderfully updated and decorated, you won’t want to leave.

“This unique farmhouse has been lovingly updated throughout the years, but still retains its charm! Located in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, the house sits on a working farm.”

A beautiful place to land, minutes from 81 & Harrisonburg, it’s that simple life you always wanted. Now you can have it for a weekend or week long stays!

“Relax at this one-story home in the country with beautiful rolling hills & mountain views where you're also likely to observe a Mennonite horse and buggy passing by.”

Located outside Dayton, this is great for families. Plus those front porch views are why the valley is so wonderful.

“This 400 sq. ft. treehouse includes a walnut spiral staircase, salvaged barn beams, a marble tile shower, and a gas fireplace, nestled amongst pine trees. The river is just a walk short walk away”

This Bridgewater gem is a popular stay, there’s no question why. Besides living the treehouse dream with river access, there’s a copper tub on the deck to enjoy nature and a good bath. Is there anything more you need in life or getaway? The answer is no.

“Very small, very simple room in my forest home. Private entrance w/keypad + private bathroom.”

Speaking of POW!, the location is like driving into a fairytale. Bang for buck, you can’t find anything more affordable and 10 minutes from town.

“Conveniently rendezvous in comfort with family/friends just steps from JMU Stadium & Quad + easy walk to Hburg's Court Square & downtown restaurants. This home offers an Impossibly Perfect location…”

Let’s just say, if you have a group, this is the only place to stay in Downtown Harrisonburg. It has every kind of place you need. The perfect hangout space, indoor or out, a marble countered kitchen and, the all important spacious bedroom, should you need a little alone time. It’s perfect. Don’t delay. Stay. Oh, and did I mention the free standing tub in the main bathroom? Good baths are life.

Luray

“Introducing Golden Ridge Manor, the finest luxury vacation getaway located in the historic town of Luray and Shenandoah Valley. Get away with your loved ones to create a lifetime of memories at the Golden Ridge Manor.”

I don’t think I can spell AMENITIES loud enough. This is for a group of people you love or don’t. In realtor speak, this is 8,000 square feet of updated delight with 360 degree ridgeline views sunrise to sunset.

“Welcome to Tree of Life Cottage, a modern designer cabin. Need a tranquil weekend getaway or a week of peaceful work from home? The Cabin is just 5 minutes to Luray Caverns & Downtown.”

This is a favorite of mine for design. It’s just perfect. Open floor plan, great hang out space inside and out. COZY. I don’t need to say more.

“Enjoy our secluded 1850s solid brick farmhouse. Completely renovated with modern conveniences, including central AC, heat, & high speed WiFi. Five miles from the Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns. Short walk to beautiful Lake Arrowhead.”

This is secluded and feels like a movie set. I know I already mentioned Big Chill, but it’s a VIBE and this one has it, too. (If you haven’t seen Big Chill, stop reading this, go watch it, then come back and book.)

North Shenandoah Valley

“Come enjoy a relaxing and private stay at our large picturesque family farm house that has been in our family for generations. An easy drive to Shenandoah National Park, Skyline Drive, and George Washington National Forest.”

Located outside of New Market, this place is meant for hanging. This place gives me serious Big Chill vibes, all you need are some old friends and late meals, long nights and catching up.

Tucked away in the mountains and surrounded by trees, you will feel alone in nature. Large windows and a spacious deck allow you to enjoy breathtaking mountain views. An indoor gas fire and two outdoor fire pits makes any chilly or rainy day feel cozy.

The woods invites you to remember to disconnect. Did you know the trees have a sound? It’s the sound of peace. Enjoy a little disconnection while reconnecting with loved ones.

Welcome to Doah House, your sanctuary nestled on a bluff atop Blue Mountain, just 30 min from Shenandoah National Park. This Scandinavian cabin on a private 4-acre retreat provides unforgettable views and wildlife. Unwind in a wood-fired hot tub, by a cozy fire, or explore nearby trails and wineries. Perfect for rest, rejuvenation, and reconnection.

Located in Front Royal, featured in Dwell, and it bears repeating - WOOD-FIRED HOT TUB, there’s no notes except to book it now.
